Goa - Get, Set, Goa

Ready to script a hat-trick is Venkat Prabhu. After having given hits like ‘Chennai 600028’ and ‘Saroja’, the filmmaker is now busy with ‘Goa’, produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth for Ocher Studios.

He has written the story, screenplay besides directing the movie. "Everyone keeps marching ahead in life with lots of expectations, but many a times, the unexpected happens, which ends up being much better than the expected," this is what the film is all about, he says.

"The name ‘Goa’ reminds one of joy, fun and entertainment. The movie will be a joyful ride for the audience. Hence, the title Goa," he informs.

Jai, Premji Amaran, Vaibhav, Sampath, Sneha play lead roles in ‘Goa’. The film has musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Sakthi Saravanan does the cinematography while stunts are by Selva.

Confirming reports that she is doing a role with negative shades in the film, Sneha says, "It is a first-of-its kind role in Tamil cinema. I am very much impressed by my character and accepted to do the role immediately after Venkat narrated me the story."

Says producer Soundarya, “I like the story that Venkat Prabhu narrated because it was so vibrant and young. Yuvan Shankar Raja will score the music for this film and I am sure the young will relate to it just like they did with ‘Chennai 28’ and ‘Saroja’.”

The team of ‘Goa’ recently returned to Chennai from Malaysia. They had been to the abroad country for the shoot and they are back after completing some important scenes.

The film is said to have a total of seven songs with ten tracks, including the theme music. Interestingly, one of the numbers will be sung by the winner of Vijay TV Super singer.

‘Goa’ is expected to hit the screens in December. Now, our Superstar’s birthday too falls in the same month. Wonder whether it is a coincidence or something else? For, the movie is his daughter’s venture.

Asal - They are back

If there is one person other than Ajith who can make the actor’s fans happy, it is none other than Saran. Whenever the filmmaker joined hands with the ‘Ultimate Star’, the output was a blockbuster.

Fourth in the line from the duo (after Kadhal Mannan, Amarkkalam and Attagasam) is Asal, a movie produced by Sivaji Films, one of the reputed production houses in Tamil industry. The action-entertainer has two heroines- Sameera Reddy and Bhavana.

Asal’s success was predicted by Superstar Rajinikanth at the launch of the movie itself. The top actor, who was the chief guest of the function said, “When I was down after ‘Baba’ debacle, Ramkumar and Prabhu, sons of Sivaji Ganesan, did ‘Chandramukhi’ with me. The rest is all history. I hope that ‘Asal’ would repeat the magic of Chandramukhi”.

Ask Saran about the film, he says, “Asal is an Asal Thala film and Asal commercial film. It will be a glossy mass entertainer, with all necessary ingredients that an Ajith film need. I am sure that the movie would satisfy the fans of the actor.”

Ajith, who of late believes in making his films to do the talking, says, “The script is so interesting. Equally is the making of Saran. We all are putting our best efforts to make ‘Asal’ a thorough entertainer.”

Music composer of the movie Bharadwaj says, “The highlight of the album is the introduction song of Ajith, sung by 100 people together. Since it is a film to be shot predominantly abroad, I have not opted for ‘kuthu’ numbers. Instead, they will be trendy.”

He adds: “All my songs in Ajith - Saran combination (Kadhal Mannan, Amarkalam and Attagasam) have topped the charts. The onus is on me to deliver this time too.” The onus is equally on Ajith-Saran too, you can say.

Sun Pictures | acquires Vettaikkaaran

Kollywood's prominent production and distribution house Sun Pictures has acquired the release rights of Ilayathalapathi Vijay's forthcoming Vettaikkaaran, directed by debutant Babu Sivan (an erstwhile associate of director Dharani) with Tollywood damsel Anushka as heroine. Hansraj Saxena of Sun Pictures recently signed the deal with the film's producer AVM Productions for acquiring the rights.

After the disappointing run of his Kuruvi and Villu, Vijay has pinned his hopes on Vettaikkaaran, based on the story of an energetic young man and his angst against the baddies in the society. According to sources, Vijay plays an auto rickshaw driver who works hard to bring justice to innocent people.

With 90% of the shooting completed, director Babu Sivan has confirmed the film’s release for Deepavali. The film has music by rock composer Vijay Antony. Cinematography is by Gopinath and editing is by V.T. Vijayan.

Nayan to act with Salman?

After Asin’s massive success with Gajini, the stars popularity rose multifold. Now another south Indian star Trisha has endeavor into Bollywood with Priyadarshan’s Katta Meeta. Initially, Trisha denied the reports, but now with the project finalized she is planning to shift base to Mumbai, it is reported.
With Asin and Trisha in Mumbai with their Bollywood dreams, there are rumors that Nayantara will act with Salman Khan which is planned to be directed by Prabhu Deva.
Prabhu deva is already directing the Hindi version of Pokkri with Salman in the lead.
One has to wait and see if this buzz has some reliability.
